"Bommalattam" Movie Review  [Saturday, December 20, 2008]

Bharatiraja's 'Bommalattam' serves as an excellent thriller with a new story line. The story develops in the bach drop of a film shoot. Rana ( Nana Patekar ), is a reknowned film maker engaged in the making of one of his best movies. But he is infamous for his aberrant behaviour. He had already ousted a woman, who was the heroine alleging her finicky behaviour. He is interested in making Trishna ( Rukmini ), the elegant dancer, the heroine. Patekar puts up an excellent performance in terms of body language and movements.
It so happens that two murders take place in the shooting location. Rana's strange behaviour makes him the prime suspect. Vivek Varma ( Arjun ), enters the stage as a CBI officer to enquire the case. The film happens to witness Bharathiraja's passion for suspense. Though the pair, Kajal Aggarwal and Arjun doesn't get along well in terms of on screen chemistry, Sabu Cyril's Art seem to compensate for it a lot. The film is different in terms of story line, but excessive focus on suspense questions logic frequently.
