Director turned actor Sundar C’s new venture Thee has nothing new to his fans and the film is all about the clash between the politicians and police. Neither the plot of the story nor the presentation is new.
The makers seem to have decided right away that instead of coming up with an original screenplay, they'd simply borrow everything from the existing, mostly hit commercial entertainers for their screenplay. And that's how you end up with a scene straight out of Suriyan, where Saami (Sundar C) rises out of the water. But here, he's nude. Wah, what a fine character entrance. He's stopped by traffic cop Muniratnam (Thalaivasal Vijay) who yells at him and then rips off a political banner and ties it around Saami's waist.
Then comes Saami's instant promotion as Minister Rajapandian's (Shayaji Shinde) aide, and introduction to Ruchidevi Madam (Namitha in an expansive role which no bikini can improve) who is supposed to be a king-maker (but who does nothing aside from massaging Saami and making phone-calls).
In the meantime, he visits a pregnant woman (Ramya) who, surprise, surprise, turns out to be his wife. F L A S H B A C K ......An Incredibly honest police officer Sarathy (How many Vijayakanth movies can you remember) beats up all the baddies and throws them into prison. He is appreciated duly by the chief minister. A lot of these scenes are borrowed liberally from Kaakka Kaakka, where our hero wears tight t-shirts, shades, speaks English and shoots hundreds of goons in random fashion.
Then he is thrown into a swamp (Anniyan) then is hit by a hammer (Ghajini?). ............ F L A S H B A C K ends. Then follows the rest of the movie.
The best scene of the movie is where CM hands over his resignation letter to a police officer who tears it immediately (HeHeHe). There is no dearth of such instances in the film.
By the end of 3 hours (yes.... the movie is 3 hrs long), you really wonder why you are still sitting inside the hall. Sundar C's acting and dance, Namita's so called "acting", Ramya's role, Srikanth Deva's kuthu songs, G. Kitcha's terrible screenplay.... how much more can you withstand in 3 hrs time ?
You would rather get a sun-tan roaming around Chennai for three hours instead of getting burnt inside an AC hall watching Thee.
