Committee to be set up to study the conversion of government and aided colleges into unitary universities [Sunday, July 19, 2009]
Higher Education Minister Mr K Ponmudi announced that a five member committee will be constituted to study the issue of converting government and government aided colleges into unitary universities. The committee will include M Anandakrishnan and V C Kundalaiswamy, former Anna University Vice Chancellors, State Planning Commission Vice Chairman M Naganathan, former Vice Chancellor of Bharatidasan university, Mr P Jagadeesan and S Bhaskaran, Member - Secretary State Council for Higher Education. The committee would also study the government's move to formulate a common university law.
