State prepares for the seven day 'Chennai Sangamam', the annual cultural festival show casing traditional culture and talents. Though the global recession has badly affected the funds for the sangamam, the Chief Minister M Karunanidhi made a donation of 1 crore from his personal finances. Indian Cements also made a contribution of one crore. Though there is a surplus of one crore from the last year's Sangamam, the organizing committee has decided to cut down on the cost of the decorations. Chennai Sangamam would stage the talents of over 1400 artist from rural areas. The folk artist from Karnataka,Punjab,Kerala and Andhra will also put up shows.
