Wilburt Smith Associates will start with the construction of the elevated road connecting light house and East Coast Road (ECR). The final allignment of the road through Beasant Nagar, with a elevation of 9.7 km was approved in 2008. The first phase is estimated to cost around Rs 430 crore. The road is said to improve connectivity to ECR from City centre and provide easy traffic mobility. The road will begin from Kamaraj Salai near the Gandhi Statue and turn east before the Light House building and run along the existing Santhome Road up to Srinivasapuram.
