Former President Dr A P J Abdul Kalam emphasized the importance of providing higher education to future's leaders with the knowledge of sustainable development. He was participating in the Anna Birth Centenary, 30 th anniversary of Anna University and the diamond jubilee celebrations of  MIT. He said that the university should be known for its research in atleast five areas of science and technology and it should convene a special programme on convergence of technologies with update on nano - technology.
