Dindigul, Sivaganga and Cuddalore three districts bagged the NREGA awards for excellence in the NREGA Act administration for 2007-2008. The three districts from Tamil Nadu were among the 22 districts selected by the centre for the awards. Local Administration Minister M K Stalin said that Rajasthan,and Tamil Nadu were the only States to get awards for three districts. The awards confirmed the State's claim that Tamil Nadu was among the best performing states in the country in the implementation of the NREG scheme.
