Rameswaram island is in a festival mood to celebrate the Maha Sivarathri that falls on Monday. Lakhs of devotees have flocked into the temple to celebrate Sivarathri and seek blessings of Lord Siva. It is believed that Lord Siva married Goddess Parvathi only on this day.The devotees believe that those who forego sleep and chant the name of Lord Siva will be freed from all sins and they would get the blessings of the God and the godess.
