CBI takes up the police-lawyer riot case [Monday, March 2, 2009]
The Central Bureau of Investigation has started probe into the clash between the lawyers and the police which took place in the Madras High Court Premises on February 19th. The case which was transfered by the government of India to the CBI is registered under the Special Crimes Branch serction of CBI. A special team of investigators inspected the Madras High Court premises on Sunday to assess the damage and find any traces of evidence. Around 30 personnel headed by K. Raju, Superintendent of Police, CBI, Chennai, reached the court premises at 3.00 p.m. and were there till 6.30 p.m.
