'Kanchivaram' was a cosy story devoid of the regular glamour and hype, and it reflected the life of silk weavers in Kanchipuram. The film that was directed by Priyadarsan was screened in numerous international venues. The film has bagged an award instituted by the government of puducherry in the name of Sri Sankardass Swamigal for the best film that participated in Indian Panorama. The award ceremony will be held in September 2009.
