The launch of the movie based on the novel compiled by  Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi titled, 'Ponnar Shankar' was held at a grand ceremony at the city. All big shots of the industry was invited and it was quite a glossy function. The movie will have popular tamil actress Kushboo and famous bollywood actor Jayaram in the lead roles. The best part of the movie is that both the actor and the actress will be playing the role of characters who are less than half their age. Kushboo will act as sixteen year old Thamarai Nachiar and Jayaram does a role of mere 20 year old character. News is that the movie will have US technicians who worked in the english flick 'The Lord of the Rings' working to tone down the age of the actors.
