Forum for subscribed films ,'Kolam', launched  [Friday, August 14, 2009]

A team of veteran directors and producers launched 'Kolam', a movement that aims to give opportunities to film makers to make films that would reach interested subscribers right at their homes as DVD's. The forum theme was developed by theatre personality Gnani. “We hope to collect subscriptions of about Rs.500 from nearly 1,000 to 2,000 cinema lovers. This sum will be used for the production of a film,” explained Mr. Gnani. The films will be couriered to all subscribers in DVD format. The Director K Balachander said that the current ambience of the tamil cinema was not pleasant “Due to that, I have also consciously stayed away from it, and instead, been concentrating on theatre. I am proud of it [theatre] as that is where I came from,” he said.
