Status Quo ordered over petition filed to stop the release of 'Unaipol Oruvan' [Tuesday, September 15, 2009]
The Madras High Court ordered for a status quo on a petition filed by Pyramid Saimira Productions International Ltd alleging that the respondants, Raj Kamal International Films, had diverted the funds provided by Pyramid for 'Marmayogi' to the making of 'Unnaipol Oruvan' in Telugu and Tamil. The affidavit produced by Pyramid productions argues that Mr Kamal Hasan and others entered into an agreement with the production company last year for a joint venture to produce 'Marmayogi' with a budget of Rs 100 crores. The petitioner argues that though a part of the total fund was already released to the respondents, they took no initiative to start with the movie and instead diverted the funds for the repoduction of 'Unnaipol Oruvan' . The petitoner argues that the terms and conditions of the memorandum of understanding framed for the joint venture was violated. Honourable judge Mr G Rajasuria of the Madras High Court ordered for the status quo till September 16th.
