Cochin Haneefa passes away  [Tuesday, February 2, 2010]
   
 

                           Veteran malaylam comedian Sri Cochin Haneefa passed away in a private hospital in Chennai today. He was suffering from liver ailment for long which today claimed his life. Mr Haneefa had a long career in mollywood. He was also active in kollywood movies like Santhosh Subramaniam, Kanthaswamy etc. The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu M Karunanidhi expressed his grief on the sudden demise of the actor. Haneefa had also acted in 'Pasa Paravaigal', the dialogue of which was penned by the Chief Minister. The Chief Minister remembers Mr Haneefa as the polite, respectful and active man in the sets. Haneefa who started  his career in the Kochin Kalabhavan troupe  progressed into films. He was casted as a villain in most of his earlier films. Later he started doing more comic roles which made him much popular among the masses. His notable performances were in mollywood flicks like 'Punjabi House', ‘Kireedam’, ‘Valsalyam’, ‘Devasuram’, ’Mannar Mathai Speaking’ etc. He is survived by a wife and two children.
