More than a 1000 activists of Shivsena was detained before the release of Bollywood star Sharukh Khan's much acclaimed film 'My Name is Khan'. This was taken as a precaution to avoid any unfortunate circumstances as a result of the issue that propped up between King Khan and shiv sena leader Bal Thackrey on the inclusion of pakistani cricketers in IPL. “In the last 24 hours, a total of 1,023 Sainiks have been arrested. While 955 were picked up under the preventive action, the rest were put behind bars for different cases, including for protesting outside the theatre, vandalising screens among others,” said the mumbai police. The security for 63 theatres, where the movie will be released, has been tightened up.Meanwhile, the sena came out with a renewed demand that the release of the movie should be halted until Mr Khan apologises for his statement favouring pakistani players in IPL. “We will not allow the movie to be released. Shah Rukh should first apologise to Balasaheb (Thackeray) and then only we can talk with him,” said senior Sena leader Manohar Joshi. |
