Kollywood actor Suriya will donne the role of a commando in Malayalam flick 'Kandahar' which is to be directed by Major Ravi. The film is based on the hijacking of Indian Airlines flight to Afghanistan in 1999. Bollywood star Amitabh Bachan will also appear in the movie. “It would take another 3-4 months for the shooting to begin. I am still in the process of getting permission from the Army and selection of locations etc. The spade work is going on,” said Major Ravi wth regard to the progress of the film. Bachan will play the role of the father of a hijack victim in the movie. The sound mixing will be done by academy award winner Resul Pookutty. Mohanlal will donne the lead role. The female lead is yet to be decided.
