Karunanidhi launches salary scheme for Tamil directors [Thursday, March 11, 2010]
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi launched a scheme on wednesday that involves payment of salaries to film directors and assistant directors through the Tamil Film Directors Association.The scheme was inaugurated at the secretariat. The programme was attended by Directors Association President Bharathiraja, secretary R K Selvamani and other office bearers. The Chief Minister distributed salaries to 24 film directors and assistant directors working in seven films. Those who received salaries included Srirangam, Perarasu,Subramaniam Siva, etc As according to the new scheme, the assistant directors and the directors can claim their salaries only through the directors and not directly from the producers.
