Maniratnam's star studded 'Raavan' was screened at the Cannes festival for the first time ever. The first screening was attended by the lead actors from all over the world and by the journalists world over. The producer of the movie, Amit Khanna described Mani Ratnam as the best director ever.
Suhasini Maniratnam who wrote the dialogues for the tamil version said that the movie exposed the dark part of humanity and that every man had an ugly and a good side in him. “In fact, the music accentuated picture. Songs have a great role to play. They do take the plot forward,” said she appreciating the music maestro A R Rahman.
