Kollywood actor Kamal Hasan clarified that he will not participate in the upcoming International India Film Academy Awards function in Colombo. He also said that he will not be returning his Padma Shri award. He further clarified that nothing could be achieved by returing the award that he was given by the central government. “Top office-bearers of FICCI, including its president, have acceded to my request to not attend the IIFA ceremony.

They promised not to attend the business forum scheduled as part of the three-day event,” said Kamal. Kamal also said that having not participated in an IIFA function, he had no intentions to participate in the one held at Colombo this year. His response came after a group of pro tamil organization members held banners outside his residence and protested against his prospective participation.
