Eminent Tamil lyricist Vairamuthu said that his mother toungue had to be saved and protected from the attack of globalisation. He described Globalisation as a 'Tsunami' and said that though it had its own positive effects, it has polluted the language to a significant extent. “The globalisation giant is snatching away the beauty of Tamil. One day, it could completely swallow the language. So the younger generation should come forward to save Tamil, which is their root. Tamil should be the medium of instruction in schools all across the State. And Tamils living in other parts of the world should teach the language to their children without fail.If we fail to do so, the future generation would no doubt forget Tamil. It is high time to save our mother tongue, which is ancient, which has rich culture and tradition and the one which can be cherished for all reasons and seasons,” , said Mr Vairamuthu in his speech at the conference. He said that tamil should be safe guarded and all its traditional characterstics should be kept intact and that all Tamil people should take pride in the rich culture and diversity of the language. |
