Maniratnam conferred 'Jaeger-Le Coultre' [Tuesday, September 7, 2010]
Ace kollywood director Maniratnam was honoured with a 'Jaeger-Le Coultre' tag at the 67th Venice Film Festival. The award was presented to the director by the jury member and director Gabriele Salvatores. Maniratnam thus joined the league of acclaimed film personalities like Sylvester Stallone, Agnes Varda, Abbas Kiarostami, and Takeshi Kitano. His recent bilingual Raavanan was also screened at the festival. “Mani Ratnam is one of the greatest innovators in contemporary Indian cinema. He helped introduce the auteur concept to contemporary Bollywood. We are very proud to honour the work of the great Indian director Mani Ratnam.”, said Marco Muller, the organizer of Venice Film Festival.
