Ace kollywood play back singer Swarnalatha passed away on sunday , September 12. She was ailing from lung infection which was identified as the primary cause of death.Swarnalatha who hails from Palakkad stepped into the industry at the age of three. Since then, she had rendered numerous hits which include compositions by Rahman and other top music directors. Her hits included songs in Kadhalar Dhinam, Bombay, Mudhalvan, Kadhalan, Indian, Thalapathy etc. She received the award for the best female play back singer in 1994. She was also a recepient of the Kalaimamani award.Swarnalatha has rendered more than 5000 songs in different languages including Bengali, Hindi,tamil, telugu, kannada and malayalam.
