Ilayaraja bags national award for best music director  [Thursday, September 16, 2010]

Ace Kollywood music director Ilayaraja bagged the award for the Best Music Director for the fourth time. He was awarded for the noval back ground score in Pazzhassi Raja. Responding to the National Award news, the music director thanked film director Hariharan for giving him the opportunity to score music for the flick. Illayaraja scored the music with Symphony orchestra, a costly option for most film makers. However, the effort was worthwhile. He said  that as a composer, he does not work with  the aim of getting awards. Awards are only a recognition for good music. He also added that good music has lost its soul with the interruption of excessive technology.“Music is my passion. Awards and accolades did not matter, but good music does. At the same time, winning National Award is an honour and I would concentrate more on good music,”, the music director was quoted as saying.
