Ace kollywood director Mani Ratnam is planning to direct a major project which will be a multi starrer according to sources. The director has dropped his earlier plans to direct the flick based on historical novel, Ponniyin Selvan.

“This one would be a contemporary entertainer with mass elements, quite on the lines of the ace filmmaker’s earlier ventures Agni Natchathiram, Nayagan and Thalapathi.As in the past, Mani Ratnam may not make an official announcement on this project too till he completes considerable part of the shoot.", said close sources. However there is ambiguity on whether the director would rope in Vijay (who was to be the lead in Ponniyin Selvan),as the lead for his upcoming project.
