South hogs limelight at 58th National Awards  [Friday, May 20, 2011]

  The South Film Industry grabbed most of the limelight at the just declared National Film Awards. The members of the jury of the 58th National Film Awards presented their report to Minister for Information and Broadcasting Ambika Soni in New Delhi on Thursday.The jury included -film director Prahlad Kakkar, director and Chairman of Feature Films J. P. Dutta, cinematographer G.S Bhaskar and director Bharat Bala.

The award for the best actor was bagged by kollywood's Dhanush and mollywood's Salim Kumar. Dhanush was given the award for his performance in 'Aadukulam'. Salim Kumar won the award for his performance in Adaminte makan Abu. The best actress award was won by Saranya Ponvannan for Thenmerkku Paruvakkatru and Marathi actor Mitalee Jagtap Paradharher performance in Baboo Band Baaja. Kollywood director Vetrimaran won the award for the best director for the flick Aadukulam. He was also deemed Best Original Screenplay Writer.

Best special effects: - Enthiran, Robot

Best Actor: Salim Kumar for Adaminte Makan Abu and Dhanush for Aadukalam

Best actress: Marathi actress Mitalee Jagtap Paradhar and Tamil actress Saranya

Best director: Vetrimaaran for 'Aadukalam'

Best supporting actress: Malayalam actress Sukumari

Best Male Playback Singer: Suresh Wadkar

Best Female Playback Singer: Rekha Bhardwaj for Ishqiya

Best Music: Vishal Bharadwaj for Ishqiya

Best audiography location sound recordist: Kamod Karade (Ishqiya)

Best re-recordist of the final mixed track: Debajit Changmai

Best cinematographer: Madhu Ambattu has won award for Adaminte Makan Abu.

Best production design: Sabu Cyril for Enthiran

Special jury award: Mee Sindhutai Sakpal
