The controversies centering Vijay flick, Kaavalan has not died down even months after the release of the flick. The latest controversy showed its head when Shakthi Chidambaram, the co-producer of the flick met Chennai city Police Commissioner J K Tripathy to file a counter complaint against the one filed by Romesh Babu, the producer. Shakthi alleged that Romesh had signed him up as a co-producer of the flick after he had given Rs 10 crore for the flick. When the flick faced road blocks, Romesh had ensured that he would return the money.

"When the project ran into trouble before its release, Romesh Babu assured that he would return the money. But he had not repaid the money even after Kaavalan's release,", said Mr Chidambaram. Earlier Romesh Babu had filed a case against Mr Chidambaram accusing him of criminal intimidation.
