Kollywood director Ameer was elected as the General Secretary of Tamil Film Director's Association on Monday. Though there were some issues between Ameer and director Bharathiraja in this regard, it was sorted out by both of them after which they contested for the President and General Secretary post respectively.

Bharathiraja was elected to the post of President with 1003 votes and Ameer was elected to the secretary post with 901 votes. Under the guidance of president of the association Bharathiraja, we will take several initiatives for the welfare of the members. We have promised a lot and will work hard to honour all the commitments given.”, said Ameer in response to his victory.
