Kollywood's veteran dance guru K J Sarasa passed away due to age related ailments at her residence on Tuesday. She was a mentor to many including Chief minister J Jayalalitha. She is survived by foster daughter Rajalakshmi, who is married to director Venkat Prabhu.The Chief minister issued a condolence note She is survived by foster daughter Rajalakshmi, who is married to director Venkat Prabhu. "She had contributed immensely in this field," Jayalalithaa, who described Sarasa as her 'Guru', said in the statement.Sarasa, daughter of nagaswaram artiste Jagadeesan Pillai, spent her early years in Karaikal. Following initial training under Muthukumara Pillai, she went to the great Vazhuvoor Ramaiah Pillai. Later, she moved to Madras to pursue dance under Ramaiah Pillai through the gurukula system for over a decade. She was a recipient of many awards.
