A.V.M Rajeswari .....  [Monday, November 10, 2008]

CHENNAI: A.V.M Rajeswari, wife of the late A.V. Meiyappan, founder of AVM Studios, died on Sunday. She was 87.
She died at 8 pm at her residence here after a prolonged illness.
“She was a guiding force for my father in his life,” said her son A.V.M. Kumaran.
Ms. Rajeswari had served as president of AVM Charities and the Avichi Higher Secondary School. She was deeply involved with several non-governmental organisations and, as president of AVM Charities, she helped out many of them financially. She was a source of strength to heads of such institutions, notably the old age home Vishranthi, WIA and the Family Planning Association of India. Her daughter-in-law and president, Family Planning Association of India, Ranjini Murugan said Ms. Rajeswari’s favourite NGO was Vishranthi. “I drew a lot of strength from her,” she said.
She is survived by A.V.M. Murugan, A.V.M. Kumaran, A.V.M. Saravanan and A.V.M. Balasubramanian and a daughter Meena Veerappan. They are all active in the cinema business.
