Sourav Ganguly, former Indian cricket captain urged that Sachin Tendulkar should be given a Bharat Ratna, the country's highest civilian award. “Sachin is a Bharat ratna. There is no doubt that he should be conferred the Bharat Ratna award,” said Ganguly. Ganguly has thus joined the big list of people including Ajit Wadekar, Kapil Dev and Dilp Vengsarkar who has requested the government to honour Sachin with a Bharat Ratna. Sachin on the other hand said that though he would be happy to be on the list of Bahrat Ratna awardees, his primary interest and focus was on cricket. “It’s a rare honour and people who have got it, are not only my heroes, but the heroes of the entire country. Who would not like to join that list, but my focus is on cricket. If it has to happen it will happen,”said the master blaster. |
