Chief Election Commissioner ensures that EVM's cannot be tampered  [Tuesday, August 11, 2009]

The Chief Election Commissioner T S Krishnamoorthy said here on monday that those people who were having doubts regarding the reliability of the Electronic Voting Machines should approach the poll panel. He also said that the ones having doubt should not 'mislead the people' by making public statements without proper clarification. The Chief Election Commissioner was attending a programme organized by the Advocates Forum For Social Justice which demonstrated that EVM's could be tampered with. The demonstrators proved that if a software programme was written into the EVM Chip, the machine would show more votes for the candidate who would manipulate the election. However the Chief Election Commissioner dismissed the allegation by stating that only a technically qualified person could do that and that the six safeguards in the machine would prevent the qusetion of installation of any trojan programme.
