The Tamil Nadu state government is planning to approach the International Association for Tamil Research (IATR) for getting approval to conduct the Ninth World Tamil Conference that is to be held in January next year. The association in charge of the meeting is planning to host a website in relation with the conduct of the conference. Letters in connection with the request for organizing the conference would be written by Chief Minister M Karunanidhi to the President and Vice President of the association. The decision regarding the same was decided at a meeting chaired by the Chief Minister, and attended by Finance Minister, Deputy Chief Minister,  Tamil Virtual University Chairman,  Tamil University Vice-Chancellor and other dignitories.
