Britain and US celebrates Diwali [Saturday, October 17, 2009]
The diwali celebrations at the 10 Downing Street was inaugurated by the British Prime Minister Gordon Brown. “This is a great day for Downing Street, a great day for us and a great day for Britain to welcome you to celebrate Diwali for the first time in Downing Street," said the Prime minister addressing a gathering of top diplomats and NRI's including Lord Swaraj Paul.While in US, President Obama celebrated the diwali with the top diplomats in White House. “I think it’s fitting that we begin this work in the week leading up to the holiday of Diwali -- the festival of lights -- when members of some of the world’s greatest faiths celebrate the triumph of good over evil,” said the president in his speech.
