Madras Medical college to get additional building worth Rs 70 lakhs [Wednesday, November 25, 2009]
The Madras Medical College will get an additional building worth Rs 70 crores from the Tamil Nadu government. It is estimated to be an eight floored building that would have all facilities for medical students. The new bulding would come up in the 10 acres land that previously belonged to the central prison. The current college bulding is expected to be used for the expansion project of the Government General Hospital. With an increasing demand for health care in the state, the Tamil Nadu government has off late started expansion of infrastructure of the existing hospitals. Recently, Union Fertilizers and Chemicals Minister M K Azhagiri had announced that initiatives will be taken to set up a multi speciality hospital in Madurai.
