The Tamil University on saturday announced its decision to confer honarary doctorates to noted tamil writersJayakanthan, archaeologist Iravatham Mahadevan and music expert P R Thilakam. The scholars are to be conferred D Litt at the general convocation of the university. The Vice Chancellor of the University conveyed the decision of the board to the press persons here on saturday. The convocation that will also be one that is taking place after a gap of three years will have governor Surjit Singh Barnala conferring the degrees with the Vice Chancellor M Rajendran presiding over the function.
