The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi on sunday declared open the renovated Marina beach for the visitors. The project which costed the state Rs 25.92 crores was completed this month. Chennai corporation commissioner who was present at the function said that the corporation has more plans to make the beach tourist friendly. “Five reverse osmosis plants capable of providing 30,000 litres of drinking water an hour free of cost to visitors will be ready shortly,” he added. The corporation expects around 5000 unique visitors after installation of the new facilities.
