Chennai police to increase fines on traffic violations [Sunday, December 20, 2009]
The Commissioner of Police T Rajendran said on Saturday that the Chennai Police has proposed to the government to enhance the penalty for traffic violations. “We are proposing to have a minimum of Rs.100 as penalty. Besides a separate budget for traffic, a part of the total money collected as fine is being sought to meet expenses related to traffic management.”said he. The commissioner also unveiled the modernisation plans for traffic control and said that auditory signal facilities will be installed in nine important places in the city.
