                                'What has changed?' asks Venkataraman Ramakrishnan, the nobel laureate in chemistry to the audience in the music academy who gathered to listen what he had to say. “Last year, the lecture was held in [an auditorium] with a capacity for just 300 people, and half the seats were empty,” said a bemused Dr. Ramakrishnan, facing a jam-packed audience of 3,000 at the university’s Centenary Auditorium.'' said he. The recepetion to an award which the world as a whole acknowldeges might seem to be strange. But the awardee best deserve it given the amount of importance that he gives to unrelenting research in molecular bio physics. He also spoke regarding the number of scientists who did hard work in the same filed but went unnoticed in the society. He especially took the name of G N Ramachandran, who is a veteran researcher in the subject with University if Madras. He said that it was important that the academic and research community should appreciate the essence of the subject rather than focus on the award that it would fetch.
