The 97th Indian Science Congress was hosted by Indian Space Research Organization in Trivandrum. The event was attended by thousands of delegates and was inaugurated by Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. The Prime Minister and the nation also honoured Nobel laureate Yonchein Tsien from Japan. The 2010 conference was based on the theme 'Science and Technology challenges of 21st century'. The first day of the conference was marked by the presence of around 1000 delegates from all over the country.
