Jallikettu leaves over 32 injured  [Saturday, January 16, 2010]
   
 

                         Over 52 people including viewers were injured at 'Jallikettu', which was held at Alanganallur on saturday. Those injured have sustained serious wounds in neck and head and are in critical stage. Six of those injured have been transfered to a government hospital for specialised treatment. The sport was flagged of by Union Chemicals and Fertilizers minister M K Alagiri. The event attracted many audience from the state and even from abroad. Around 494 bull fighters were registered for the event. A total of 387 bulls were admitted and all of them were vetted by the Department of Animal Husbandry. The bull fighters also had to undergo strict alcohol consumption and medical fitness checks.
