Madras High Court on tuesday dismissed a petition seeking to quash a Tamil Nadu government order exempting tamil films with names in tamil from entertainment tax. The Division Bench comprising Chief Justice H L Gokhale and Justice K Venkataraman said in their order that time and again the supreme court had held that it was for a state to pick and choose the area of taxation.'Hence it is not possible for this court to grant any relief', the Judges said and dismissed the petition.
