The rains had come as a real relief to Tamil Nadu at a time when it was affected by scorching heat. The north east monsoons are now turning out to be a bane for the state. The death toll in the state due to the havocs caused by the monsoons have risen to 12 and the weaher reports are predicing heavy rains in the next two days. The north east monsoons though active in the coastal areas, were not so much strong in the interiors of the state. The city accounted for rain to the tune of 4.3 cm in the last 24 hours.Several parts of te city was flooded by the lashing rains and the subways are water logged causing problems to traffic flow.
