Elangovan urges government to name Radhapuram bus stand after Chief Minister K Kamaraj [Friday, November 13, 2009]
Former Union Minister EV K S Elangovan requested the state government to name the Radhapuram bus stand after late Chief Minister K Kamaraj. The minister had come down to meet congress cadre Sudalaimuthu who was on a fast demading that the bus stand should be named after Kamaraj. He ended the fast after the visit of Mr Elangovan and was admitted to Tirunelveli Medical College Hospital. Me Elangovan however clarified that he visited Sudalaimuthu on the instruction of Congress President Sonia Gandhi and that he nor the party had any opposition to the installation of the statues of the parents of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi. “I urged Mr. Sudalaimuthu to give up his protest as he should see the revival of ‘Kamaraj rule’ in Tamil Nadu. However, our stand on this particular issue will not affect the party’s ties with the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam,” said Mr Elangovan.
