TN to introduce new regulations to control traffic [Tuesday, November 17, 2009]
The State Government is all set to introduce a new set of regulations to control traffic jams in the city which has turned out to be a serious problem off late. The meeting chaired by Deputy Minister M K Stalin has stressed the importance of identifying the solutions that is required to solve the problem at the earliest. “We have made a series of recommendations. Some of them are long-term, but work has started on things which can be implemented right away. These include relocating EB transformers which eat into pedestrian space, removing junction boxes, clearing encroachments along roads, laying medians and enhancing them in places where they already exist,”said Mr S Machendranathan, the Transport commissioner of the state.
