CPI decides to support AIADMK, but would campaign independently [Friday, November 27, 2009]
The CPI on thursday decided to support the AIADMK in the by elections to the two constituencies in the state. Earlier the party members had decided that they would not contest in the elections. But the latest decision was the outcome of the meeting that was held with the AIADMK party cadres on thursday. Explaining the party's stand D Pandian, the CPI State Secretary said that the decision to contest in the elections were taken as the farmers and teh fishermen community was suffering due to the policies adopted by the DMK - Congress coalition. Mean while,the party's State Secretary N Varadarajan said that the party would support AIADMK but would campaign independently. He also added that the party leaders would not share a common stage with AIADMK cadres.
