As the last dates for filing of nominations for the by polls is coming to an end in tuesday, the Vandavasi and Tiruchendur constituencies who are about to go for by polls reported to have a total of 53 nominations. 20 people filed their nominations to contest in the Vandavasi election while 33 filed to contest from Tiruchendur. The contestants include DMK, AIADMK, DMDK and independent candidates.  Mean while, the deputy chief minister M K Stalin expressed confidence that the party would undisputedly win in the by polls . With the clarification made by AIADMK that they would contest in the polls and would garner support from the CPI, the competition has tightened in both the constituencies.
