Numerous CPI and CPI (M) workers were arrested on monday as they were staging protest movements against rise in the prices of essential commodities. Among those arrested also includes the leading CPI leaders like D Pandian, CPI Joint Secretary C Mahendran, A Soundarajan etc The party workers were staging a demonstration in Madurai and Virudhnagar district. The protesters complained against the rising prices and the online trading of futures for essential commodities etc.
