The Tamil Nadu Assembly was adjourned on thursday till January 11 th after paying obituary to the MLA's S P Jayaraman and P N Periannan who passed away last year. The speaker R Avudaiyappan read out the condolence message and announced the adjournment of the assembly. The unexpected death of both the MLA's had resulted in the call for by polls in Vandavasi and Tirumangalam constituencies. Both the polls were won by the ruling DMK. The next assembly section which will be held in the second week of January is expected to have heated discussions on Mullaperiyar issue, new welfare schemes of the government and about the upcoming World Classical Tamil Conference.
