TN govt denies allegation of fund diversion from AGAMT scheme  [Friday, January 15, 2010]

The Tamil Nadu government said in an official release that there was no diversion of funds from the Anaithu Grama Anna Marumalarchi Thittam (AGAMT), to the government's scheme of distribution of free colour televisions to the households. The official release cited the report of the omptroller and Auditor General and said that there was no financial irregularity that was traced in this respect. The official release clarified that it was merely an 'accounting exercise' and that an order of the government had said that certain items should not be included in the account while the computation of AGAMT schemes were considered.
