The Pattali Makkal Katchi leader S Ramdoss on sunday demanded that the universities those are at the verge of de- recognition should be nationalised. He also demanded action against the UGC officials who recommended the deemed status for those institutions. “All deemed universities should either be affiliated to government—run universities or the government should take over them. They flout norms on admission, fees and reservation and sell engineering and medical seats, among others, for a fee,” said Mr Ramdoss. He also demanded for setting up of a special inquiry commission to take action against the decision of UGC to give deemed university status to 'black listed' institutions. He also requested the Tamil Nadu government to 'implead' itself for saving the deemed universities.'' I will take steps to implead myself,” he ensured.
